TATTOO CARE
TATTOO AFTERCARE POST-TREATMENT CARE
Follow these instructions diligently to ensure the best possible outcome for your tattoo.
-
Cling Wrap: Keep the cling film on your tattoo for at least 1 hour or as advised by your tattoo artist.
-
Cling Wrap Removal: Gently remove the bandage and wash the tattooed area with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water.
-
Moisturize: Apply with clean hands a thin layer of tattoo-friendly ointment or unscented moisturizer to the tattooed area once tattoo has become dry (1-2 days). And then 2-3 times a day there after (palmers cocoa butter, Nivea, dove, any natural moisturiser).
-
Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight and tanning beds during the healing process. Apply a high-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen if the tattooed area is exposed to the sun.
-
Avoid Swimming: Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or natural bodies of water until your tattoo is fully healed.
-
Clothing Choice: Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid irritation and allow the tattoo to breathe.
-
Avoid Substances: Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications during the initial healing period to minimize bleeding and ensure proper healing.
-
Consult Your Artist: If you have any concerns or notice signs of infection (excessive redness, swelling, or discharge), consult your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional.
-
Long-Term Care: After your tattoo is fully healed, continue to moisturize the area regularly and protect it from excessive sun exposure to maintain its vibrancy.
- Touch up: contact a tattoo artist with a clear photo of tattoo 3 weeks after original procedure, tattoo artist will inform you if touch up/top up session is needed and book you in shortly, touch ups are free, but if there’s proof there was negligence of aftercare during healing process a small charge may apply.
